DreamWorks: School of Dragons

School of Dragons is a 3D educational massively multiplayer online role-playing game that was published in 2013. Based on DreamWorks’ wildly successful How to Train Your Dragon Franchise, School of Dragons allows players to raise, explore, bond with, and train their very own dragons alongside their favorite characters from the films.

As Lead Narrative Designer, Dean Ravenola was responsible for continuing this game’s storied history by contributing new questlines for in-game events. such as Loki Day, Snoggletog, Thawfest, Summarhildr, and Dreadfall and helping redesign the FTUE quests.

Seasonal Event Storylines

Dean Ravenola oversaw all of the Narrative Design for the 2022 School of Dragon seasonal events such as Loki Day, Snoggletog, Thawfest, Summarhildr, and Dreadfall. His responsibilities included:

  • Drawing upon existing How to Train Your Dragon lore to outline, pitch, and write exciting new questlines for the event.

  • Utilizing fan-favorite characters to organically introduce new hybrid dragons to the School of Dragons campus.

  • Devising tasks with action types interwoven seamlessly into the event storyline.

  • Working with Art and Design teams to bring to life polished cutscenes and exciting Dragon Tactics battles.
